What Makes a KPOP Group Tick??

So I got a request from Quora, to give a remark on How the KPOP Group "Elris" is doing so Far, and then it got me thinking,' What makes a KPOP group tick?' Why do I listen to the KPOP groups I listen to? Then, at that moment, the next post I'd be making just hit me:

What makes a KPOP Group Tick?
You're spending your time (and probably money) viewing and re-viewing KPOP stars and their performance, but haven't you wondered why? Why do we have biases, or why do we prefer one group over the rest? Why do some groups have lots of fans, and then some groups are just popular because of their entertainment company.

Here's an excerpt from my answer.

Question: What do you think about this rookie KPOP Girl Group (ELRIS)?

Answer:
For A KPOP Group to actually be standard and Unique, they need to have KPOP. Yep, they need to have KPOP, Which is:
Killer Signal: Every KPOP group that you see out there always pushes out the same concept of either sexy or cute, but what makes a group tick, is that killer signal that they all show as a group. It’s more like a team connection during stage performance. How unified they are. When we see that, we tend to appreciate the group even more.
Presence on Stage: Yes, Stage presence. If you’re not confident enough, surely you won’t sell the look you are aiming to portray. KPOP groups tend to succeed in this aspect mostly.
Originality: A LOT of groups find it hard to be creative. Most up-coming groups just pump out the same old things, and it’s sorta boring now coz other groups have it. We need fresh content, if you want our attention.
Practice: How well you do , should show on stage based on how much you’ve practiced in secret. I know the KPOP industry ensures that their groups have a lot of practice, but sometimes, they tend to break some of them because that’s not their passion in the long run.
Now coming to your video, First thing:
The name: Elris does send the proper message. The name ‘Elris’ means to “Being a passionate idealist that needs to feel loved.” This is a good name considering what they are going for…. i.e being cute.
Apart from this, I can’t see any originality. It’s still :
  • The same old cute, pouty face weakness they show (like in 1:22)
  • The same group baby gatherings at 0:59 (come on, that’s Girls Generation in 2011. This is 2017!)
  • The same dance theme with techni-color as in 1:18 till whenever.
  • The same ‘other people stop, then one person demonstrates some baby gestures’ kind of dance move in 2:43. (Really, till now i don’t understand why they do that.)
I could really go on , and on about this, but the same things are pumped out, so it’s not really going to tickle my fancy, and not something i’d spend my money to listen to and be entertained.
I apologize if i took a harsh turn to this, and displeased you. You were probably expecting a good remark on the group, of which i cannot give. The thing is that I believe in quality entertainment, and good charisma on screen."
Well, that's all folks.
